What is FSSAI?

The Food Standards and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) is the primary authority in charge of food safety regulation and control. It is a legal requirement for all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to obtain an FSSAI LICENSE or Food License.

FSSAI establishes science-based standards for food products and controls their production, storage, distribution, sale, and importation to ensure that safe and wholesome food is available to the country’s 1.3 billion residents.

The authority is also in charge of establishing information and communication networks throughout the country so that the general public, consumers, and others can get timely, accurate, and reliable information concerning food safety and hygiene and other related issues of importance. There are 3 types of FSSAI Food Licenses available for you.
