Spices are well-known in India. It has emerged as a global participant in the spice trade. Many people benefit from the business of exporting spices. The Spice Board of India provides Spice Board Registration to people who want to start a business in spice exporting and ensure that the exporting business is not abused fraudulently.

Documents Required for Spice Board Registration

  • Detailed Bank report against current account from your banker.
  • Scanned passport size photo (size 135PX x 165PX) of the CEO/Authorized person of the organization (JPEG/JPG/PNG).
  • Partnership Deed / Company’s Certificate of Incorporation, MOA & AOA.
  • GST registration certificate or Self declaration for not having GST.
  • Import-Export Code (IE code) Certificate.
  • PAN card.
  • Udyog Aadhaar/MSME Certificate.

Why is Spice Board Registration mandatory?

Section 11 of the SPICES BOARD ACT, 1986 states that no business shall begin or carry on the business of exporting any spice from India unless it is registered with the Spice Board.

It is important to note that exporting spices without registering with the Spice Board may result in-

  1. Take possession of the Spice Stock.
  2. Imprisonment for up to a year
  3. A fine of up to a thousand rupees.
